Abigail's Tea House was conceived as an English tea house. The English became obsessed with tea during the Interregnum -- the period between the execution of Charles I in 1649 and the arrival of his son Charles II in London in 1660, which marked the start of the Restoration. The first tea houses or tea rooms began opening their doors in the early 1700's.  We're located less than 100 km from downtown Toronto, so we are the perfect excuse to go for a drive in the country with a break for high tea in the middle of the trip!

The first tea houses or tea rooms began opening their doors in England in the early eighteenth century. In the mid-eighteenth century, the Duchess of Bedford developed afternoon tea as a way of tiding guests over until the supper was served. At Abigail's Tea House, we have a delicious selection of sandwiches, salads, charcuterie and desserts to make your high tea an exquisite dining experience, in an-unhurried, calm and beautiful environment.

Our "High Tea" dining experience includes fresh fruit, aged cheddar pimento spread with assorted crackers, curried chicken Waldorf salad, our signature scone served with cream & preserves, a selection of sweets and a steaming pot of Abigail's Tea. Peruse the other delicious offerings in our menu here.  Visit our traditional English tea house located in picturesque St. George, Ontario. You'll love our beautiful birdcage chandeliers, antique inspired wall paper and French tufted bench seating which provide the perfect ambience for sampling delicious teas and sweet delights from our classic tea house menu. Abigail's tea house is the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
